A Wise Woman VS. A Foolish Woman
When desiring to be a biblical woman of God, we should be wise. No foolish woman is following God.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Consider that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So, it doesn't matter how long you have lived your life as a foolish women, you begin to be wise when you start fearing the LORD. That doesn't mean that there wont be some foolish things still in your life from the past. But it means that starting now you can be a wise woman.
Proverbs 24:9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
Even the thought of foolishness is sin. Which even wise women have foolish thoughts. But it is the foolish women who have foolish thoughts and act them out. For example, "I love my children so much I'm going to continue in my career and pay for them to go to private school." says the foolish woman.
She...
- Doesn't fear the Lord and obey Titus 2:3-5 (emphasis on verse 5 right here)
Titus 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
- Doesn't know what love is because she passed her children off to someone else for the 40+ hours she is gone away at work, plus however long her children are in someone else's care at private school.
Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
Proverbs 14:1 EVERY wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
Since we looked a little bit about how a foolish woman could pluck her house down, now let's look at how a wise woman could build it up.
THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF HOUSES IN SCRIPTURE
- A household (having children)
- A physical structure that you live in
- The flesh, or heavenly body that your spirit resides in
Let's see some scripture on these.
A WISE WOMEN BUILDS HER HOUSE BY HAVING CHILDREN
Ruth 4:11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The Lord make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Beth-lehem:
Rachel and Leah are given the credit of building the house of Israel. This is talking about the 12 tribes of Israel. This is a big way that a wise woman can fulfill Proverbs 14:1 and build her house.
Birth Control is Foolish
Don't do FOOLISH things like use birth control. No matter what method is used, any one who is trying to withhold the blessing of the LORD (Gen 9:7), which is the fruit of the womb (Psa 127:3), is FOOLISH. Only for selfish reasons would a woman despise having a child so much that she would go as far as having an IDU implant in the womb, or have a rod installed, under her flesh, in her arm, to prevent pregnancy. Which by the way...only the medical "professionals" can remove and they can chose not to remove it, even if you decide it was a mistake and you want it out! If you are in that situation...I hope your husband is handy with a suture kit. Trust God and get that thing out yourself!!
So, a wise woman has children. That is easy enough, right? But it doesn't stop there. Even foolish women can have children. The wise part is in bringing them up yourself.
I Timothy 5:9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, 10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
A widow is not to be taken in unto the church's care unless she has brought up children. It is the first good work that is listed.
I recently had to admonish a foolish woman in my family that decided not to care for her own child but rather hand her infant daughter off to others for a week while she spent her time multiple states away participating in a sinful wedding. If this woman is willing to leave her infant daughter with other people at this age...what will she do as she gets older? This is a prime example of a foolish woman who is plucking her house down with her own hands.
And I praise the Lord Jesus because his word is a living word. I have experience this many times during these Biblical Women studies. What ever topic is at hand, God gives me the chance to exercise what I have studied in his word.
A WISE WOMEN BUILDETH HER HOUSE BY BEING A KEEPER AT HOME
The second type of house that a woman will build up is her physical house. Women are the weaker vessel (I Peter 3:7) and so she is most likely not physically building a brick house today. But by being a keeper at home, she is doing that continual action of "buildeth".
Please refer to this study on being a keeper at home to understand the gravity of this position. It is serious!! And the foolish women of today are treading all over being a keeper at home. Even scoffing at women who are stay at home moms. Calling them "lazy" or degrading them as "servants". HAHA! Lazy?? No way (Prov 31:27). But a servant, yes, we are like servants (I Peter 2:18 Cp, 3:1). But that is not a bad thing. It is honorable in scripture. It is what we are supposed to do.
Proverbs 9:13 ¶ A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
The career women who mock the keepers at home are simple, silly, and knoweth nothing. Those women are plucking their houses down with there own hands. When they end up divorced with their children on their father's side...blaming the mother for it (we know many in this situation) the women doesn't know anything...she doesn't understand that it was her fault. She is foolish because she didn't begin in Proverbs 9:10 and FEAR THE LORD.
OUR BODIES ARE A HOUSE
II Corinthians 5:1 FOR we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Our body, whether earthly or heavenly is a house according to scripture.
The Fleshly Body
A couple of points on this...
- You are what you eat, right? If you know that soybean oil can cause chronic inflammation, and that to much sugar is bad, or eating processed food makes you sick. Then don't do it. That is a simple way to build your house up as a wise woman. As hard as that can be for some women, what I'm about to say next is even more challenging.
It is not what goes into your body that builds the house...it is what comes out! Only an understanding woman will get this.
Matthew 15:16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? 17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
A wise woman buildeth her house, her body, by making sure none of the above listed evil things come out from her. That is what plucks down, and defiles your own body. It is easier said then done. And remember that even the thought of foolishness is sin. Bring these thoughts into captivity if you have them and you will be wise (II Corinthians 10:5).
- A wise woman is not going to fornicate. She will remain a virgin until she is married ( I Cor 7:34). And the married woman will not be an adulteress. Those that commit fornication are EXTERMELY FOOLISH and pluck down their house with their own hands.
I Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
CONCLUSION & VIDEO
The fault of Eve was that she thought wisdom grew on trees.
Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Sorry, Eve, but that was very foolish. The beginning of wisdom is to fear the LORD.
Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
As biblical women, let us choose the way of the Lord and not the way of the world.
