An Example of the Believers
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
This is a series of videos on how young men can be an example of the believers. In it, 1 Timothy 4:12 is covered point by point. "In word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." Young men need to be sound in all these things to be an example of the believers.
Here are some scriptures about the examples of others.
1 Peter 2:21-22
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
When you are an example of the things in 1 Timothy 4:12, then you are setting forth a pattern that others should follow. You will be an example to the brethren in the Lord, and the lost world will see what a believer is and does. We are believers in the word of God so put off youthful lusts and serve the Lord Jesus Christ according to the scriptures. Be an example now and don't use your youth as an excuse to disobey God and live in pleasures and lusts. If you set a bad habit as a youth it will carry into your older life. To be a proper bishop or elder you must start as a youth.
Psalms 25:7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD.
Young men, we can stand fast in the faith and be an example of the believers. The scriptures say that young men are STRONG.
1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
Proverbs 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.
To be a better example you will receive correction and reproof from the Lord and from brethren in the Lord. If you read "my son" in scripture then hearken to those words. The elder is speaking to the younger.
Proverbs 10:17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Proverbs 3:11-12
11 ¶ My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
2 Timothy 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
