CHARITY REJOICETH NOT IN INIQUITY, BUT REJOICETH IN THE TRUTH: chapter X

CHARITY REJOICETH NOT IN INIQUITY, BUT REJOICETH IN THE TRUTH: chapter X

Just on the surface level as it reads...

1 Corinthians 13:6 KJV Charity rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.

So iniquity is contrasted with whatever the truth is regarding a certain thing, in the given context. But there is more to it still to unpack and comprehend with this part of Charity. And to answer the question what is truth??? Well in short the word of God is the truth... it tells us so, unless you think the word of God is wrong, you will understand that God cannot lie and all his ways are perfect.

John 17:17 KJV  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Titus 1:2 KJV  In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
&
Hebrews 6:18 KJV  That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

Deuteronomy 32:4 KJV  He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

And so if we are going to rejoice in the truth, we are going to rejoice in God according to his word following it diligently. Charity is called the bond of PERFECTNESS as covered throughout this series. However, we really see that come to light in this study. As what is perfect other than the truth.

Colossians 3:14 KJV  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Furthermore understand that the Lord Jesus Christ hates all workers of iniquity. There is the saying of "hate the sin, but not the sinner". However, such a statement is not found in the word of God... consider how we are suppose to separate ourselves from wicked people in 1 Corinthians 5:11-13 & 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. So look at the word of God and understand as God hates the workers of iniquity and we are not to rejoice in iniquity to have charity, so we to must hate iniquity...

Psalms 5:4-5 KJV  For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.  (5)  The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

Also to note as with each other aspect of Charity that we have gone through already. We can take confidence knowing that love is not the same as charity. Love is not perfect in truth, as someone can love iniquity in loving a transgression. So love is not charity nor can it be a simple interchange between the two for the understanding of charity.

Proverbs 17:19 KJV  He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.

And in this love can never be the bond of perfectness as love can be corrupted through what it is that is loved.

Now with these few simple points laid out. Please continue turning in the scriptures as we go through this video Bible study. And lets learn more about charity according to scripture.

Ultimately someone might think they are doing good by having the "closest" thing to the truth that they can find... but if it ain't the truth but only something close to it then it is still a lie, and of the devil. (Compare this last verse back to Deuteronomy 32:4.)

John 8:44 KJV  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
