CHARITY SEEKETH NOT HER OWN: chapter VII

CHARITY SEEKETH NOT HER OWN: chapter VII

When you put on charity you will have a desire to help and edify others and not just please yourself. Charity seeketh not her own; she seeketh another's wealth. If you have a wealth of knowledge about the Lord Jesus Christ and the doctrine which is according to godliness why not bestow that knowledge upon another? Charity does not please herself but seeks to please others. Charity edifieth not herself but another. This includes teaching, exhorting, edifying, and supporting one another.

As members in the body of Christ we must put on charity and not think so much about ourselves. God commands Christians to pray for one another, to love one another, and to support the weak. How can an operation continue if one member is boasting themselves? They are not seeking to help anyone else but themself. How can the body operate while one member is strong and not helping the weak? Charity must be put on so we can obey these commandments. Remember to keep 1 Corinthians 13 in memory as you go through these videos on charity.

(Compare to Ephesians 6:18)
1 Samuel 13:23
Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:

1 Corinthians 10:24
Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.
Romans 15:1-2
1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

2 Corinthians 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

Here is the video Bible study that covers this point about charity according to scripture.
