Charity: The Complete Series

Charity: The Complete Series

This series was started to get a better understanding of what God is saying when he uses the word CHARITY. And yes the Lord Jesus Christ, God Almighty uses the word charity and not love nor alms in 1 Corinthians 13. And he gave us a complete breakdown of what charity means in 1 Corinthians 13 giving us 15 different aspects of charity in verse 4-7. Along 3 actions of what is not charity in and of itself in verse 1-3.

1 Corinthians 13:1-7 KJV
(1) Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
(2)  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
(3)  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
(4)  Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
(5)  Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
(6)  Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
(7)  Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

And so charity is not "godly love in action" as David Daniels, Robert Breaker, or Gene Kim try to define it as. Charity is not the action of anything but rather the thought and intent behind the action. I mean really now we are to add to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity in 2 Peter 1:7.
So how then is Charity godly love in action if we are to add charity on top of godly love through godliness and brotherly kindness?

2 Peter 1:5-7 KJV
(5) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
(6)  And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
(7)  And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

Charity is also above godly love to forgive and to forbear according to the word of God. It is even called the bond of perfectness. As it is written in Colossians 3:14.

Colossians 3:12-14 KJV
(12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
(13)  Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
(14)  And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Thuse true charity, according to the word of God, has to be taught by God. It can not be taught by man on the earth through definitions not in the word of God.
As it is written...

Psalms 119:9 KJV  BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

... & ...

2 Peter 1:19-21 KJV  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:  (20)  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.  (21)  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

...as well as ...

Colossians 3:16 KJV  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

May we all receive the word of God to say what it means and mean what it says. Allowing God to define it for us. And if we do then it is our part to study and show ourselves approved unto God... not man...

2 Timothy 2:15-16 KJV  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  (16)  But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Nevertheless here are the video Bible studies. May the Lord guide you unto all truth by his word and not the words of any man.
