CHARITY THINKETH NO EVIL: chapter IX

CHARITY THINKETH NO EVIL: chapter IX

There are a lot of preconceived notions that come with this point and topic regarding charity and what it is to think evil. So for a better part of this study we will be defining through the word of God what evil is, and how someone thinks evil.

Thinking evil is not just to devise wickedness but also to fight, avenge or even to punish. Consider the following verse How that God was going to bring an evil upon the children of Israel to punish them...

Jeremiah 6:19 KJV  Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

Also there is an interesting point to be made in how according to the word of God, the Lord creates evil.

Isaiah 45:7 KJV  I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

... also ...
Job 2:10 KJV  But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Now it is not that God works wickedness but to destroy or punish is also evil as defined according to the word of God. To put it plainly when a bad thing happens like you get a crack in your car windshield... that is an evil that happened to you. Then you magnify that concept to see what happened to job and you start to understand a matter according to the word of God a little bit more.

There is a common thing where people will say "how can God let this happen to me". But when you match it up with what happened to Job, or what Paul had to endure (read 2 Corinthians 11:21-33). And understanding how "all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution", as it is written in 2 Timothy 3:12. You can start to be thankful in whatsoever state you are in and no longer thing "how can God let this happen", but rather think "how will God be glorified in this". This is just one small way that we can go about to not think evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:15-18 KJV  See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.  (16)  Rejoice evermore.  (17)  Pray without ceasing.  (18)  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

We will be breaking this down more and also looking at how we would go about to not think evil and have charity in this video Bible study.
