Colleges and Universities Are Contrary to Scripture
Do not be beguiled, seduced, or bewitched by the philosophy of "higher education". These buildings called colleges and universities operate under the philosophy "pursue a higher education" or "pursue a higher calling". This is blasphemy if you call yourself a "Christian" college/university and say "pursue a higher calling".
Jesus Christ never commanded Christians to build colleges or universities. Jesus Christ also said to any man that would follow him to "lose his life for my sake".
Most people go to colleges to find their life. To obtain a degree of learning so they can go into a career field and live a successful life.
Matthew 10:39
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Matthew 16:25
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
John 12:25
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
The calling of the Lord Jesus Christ is by faith in him according to the scriptures. It is not by learning the wisdom of men in a building called a college. God does not call these people who are highly educated (wise).
1 Corinthians 3:19
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1 Corinthians 1:26
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
2 Timothy 1:9
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
There are people who may come with this question: What about going to a secular college/university to learn a particular trade/career? This is a good question, and one that I have come across recently in my own mind while seeking trades.
There are ways to get the knowledge about a trade without going through college and spending a lot of money in the process. What is your heart on the matter? Are you convicted in your conscience about going to college because of the flesh and its desire to have pride of life? Will you learn this knowledge and give glory to God with it? You can partake in classes on a college campus and dwell there or you could do them online and dwell at home.
There is sin that happens at colleges that you would not want to subject yourself to as a Christian. You need to be fully persuaded in your own mind and remember that Christ hath made us free from sin.
Galatians 5:13
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
You are free to go to college/university but remember, brethren, ye are complete in Christ. You do not need to go to a college to obtain knowledge about God or to serve God. Every thing we need for life is in the King James Bible.
Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:9
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Colossians 2:10
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Galatians 3:26
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
