For To Me To Live Is Christ

2 Corinthians 5:14-15
14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

We deserve death because of our sins against God.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We deserve the wrath of God because of our sins against him.

Nahum 1:2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

However, God gave himself for us.

Colossians 1:21-22
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Now, we live anew in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

"For to me to live is Christ"

This means obeying the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ as he is our life now. Do you reckon yourself to be dead unto sin and alive unto God? Do you walk by faith and believe this? Do you continue in the sin you used to partake in or do you mortify your members which are upon the earth?
This is what it means "for to me to live is Christ". To live according to the scriptures, obeying the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ. These commandments are found in the epistles of Paul as he commanded Christians to be followers of him.

1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Throughout this video study, many scriptures are covered regarding the doctrine of being dead to sin and alive unto God.

Romans 6:10-11

10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our bodies are Christ's now, our lives are hid in him and we ought to live for him. Here is a portion of scripture to keep in memory as you watch this study.

Colossians 3:2-6

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

In the end, the Lord's name will be in our foreheads. Our lives are his, we are one in him.

Revelation 22:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
John 17:21-22

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

Here is a verse in the hymn "Before the Throne Of God Above" [MP #301]

VERSE 3

Be-hold him there! the ris-en Lamb!
My per-fect, spot-less right-eous-ness,
The great un-change-a-ble "I AM,"
The King of glo-ry and of grace.
One with him-self, I can-not die,
My soul is pur-chased by his blood;
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Sav-iour and my God.
