Lead A Quiet And Peaceable Life
This is a study that might need even more attention then what it is given here. Nonetheless, the main take of things here is in regard to freedom. If you do not want to be told what you need to do or be subjected unto things, then stive to live quietly and peaceable. In return it will be a more godly and honest life.
There are three main passages of scripture in the New Testament that instructs us by commandment to live this way from day to day.
... one ...
Romans 12:18-19 KJV
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
(19) Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
... two ...
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 KJV
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
(12) That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
... three ...
1 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
(2) For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
And focusing back to the one in the middle, at the end of 1 Thessalonians 4:11 is says "as we commanded you" And according as it is written earlier in the same chapter... also to take note that Paul was given a dispensation to fulfill the word of God as it is written in Colossians 1:25 KJV.
1 Thessalonians 4:2 KJV
For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
Colossians 1:25 KJV
Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
So yes we ought to live a life not getting entangled with others affairs. However, to live free and walk in the liberty of Christ it comes with a responsibility. And a measure of handling matters yourself and not just running to authorities for aid.
Also there is another point in understanding we need to let them alone who are lost. Of course we still share the gospel with them, but we do not judge them with the same measure of judgement we would hold to the saints. Just separate yourself from them and allow God to judge them. As we have more instruction in the word of God... (There is also the passage in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 to consider for this.)
1 Corinthians 5:12-13 KJV
For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
(13) But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
So judge these small matters, pray for authorities, that we may lead quiet and peaceable lives, in all godliness and honesty. Those that are without have no spiritual power or discernment to judge for themselves.
1 Corinthians 6:1-2 KJV
Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?
(2) Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
