The Need To Knows After being Born Again
There is a lot to the word of God, a man can spend his whole life reading and studying it, yet still not understand everything. The Lord promises us he will guide us into all truth in John 14:26 & 16:13. Our part in this is to trust him being found faithful (1 Corinthians 4:1-2) and lean not unto our own understanding: when we ask the Lord to show us truth we ought to buckle up, because he is going to take us for a ride.
Proverbs 3:5-7 KJV Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (7) Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Now we should know and have confidence in the simplicity there is in Christ Jesus our Saviour. This is having the understanding that we are born again of the Spirit of God, and not anything to do with our carnal deeds in the flesh. Understanding that...
- Jesus is God Almighty come in the flesh (Matthew 1:23, John 1:1-5, Revelation 1:11 & 1:17-18)
- Jesus died by shedding his blood for our sins (Romans 5:6-9, 1 Corinthians 15:3, Hebrews 9:22-26)
- Jesus was buried and rose again the third day without seeing corruption (Acts 13:37, Romans 6:3-4, 1 Corinthians 15:4)
- And we call on him to save because we can not save ourselves no matter what we claim we believe (Romans 10:9-14, James 2:19)
These "need to knows" are more so to guard us from falling into any pitfalls of false teachings. Understanding the simplicity in Christ and that we are saved by grace through faith, not that of ourselves (Ephesians 2:8-9). We must also understand how men follow after many pitfalls such as head coverings, trying to keep the law, water baptism, speaking in tongues, attending church services, commanding what holidays you can or can not celebrate, the kind of clothing or even color of clothing you must wear, etc... etc... ; Some even say circumcision is the Christian thing to do, no, it is the Jewish thing to do. Have you not read Acts chapter 15? Regardless of what teaching of man, no matter how good it may sound; all such traditions are after the commandments of men and they take away from the simplicity in Christ.
Colossians 2:6-8 KJV As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: (7) Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. (8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:18-22 KJV Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, (19) And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. (20) Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (21) (Touch not; taste not; handle not; (22) Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
The simplicity in Christ is that we are saved by the Lord Christ Jesus, not because of what clothes we wear, what days we regard as holidays, or any carnal working through a religious tradition. rather the tradition is in preforming or to abstain from a particular thing. We are saved because of Christ Jesus and not by works of our flesh (Ephesians 2:9).
Basically there are many things that man has came up with by implying to scripture with their own vain imaginations. In order to teach various things, saying they are needed for salvation, or to keep salvation: And in these various things implied to the word of God, men judge rather or not someone is saved; Looking at carnal things rather than focusing on the gospel (Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 2:2, Galatians 5:1-2). However we are saved and remain saved because of Jesus Christ the Lord and Saviour. It is an operation done without hands by the faith of God (Colossians 2:10-12). We are his workmanship and our salvation is of him, he is our justification (Romans 3:26). To add anything else to it this salvation is to say Jesus didn't do enough or didn't do it right (Romans 10:3-4).
Galatians 5:4 KJV Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Galatians 3:3 KJV Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Galatians 2:21 KJV I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
So may these video series also help you to study the word of God for yourself. To be rooted and built up in Christ and not any vain rudiment of this world. And abound more and more being grounded and settled on the Rock of our salvation. Amen.
