The Flood In the Days Of Noah: The Forgotten Judgments of God
2 Peter 3:5-6
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
The flood in the days of Noah is a forgotten judgment of God. Some call this judgment a fable and some call it metaphorical.
The word of God is truth. This judgment came to pass and men don't want to think about it because they know they are worthy of death just as those men were.
Genesis 6:5,7,13
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
This judgment is spoken of throughout the scriptures.
Isaiah 54:9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
This judgment should also be a comfort to us knowing that God will judge wickedness. The LORD sees it all, the good and the evil. And God will save his people from the wrath to come just as he saved Noah.
2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
1 Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
