What Does "Meet" Mean in the KJB?
Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
When something is "meet" it means that it is something "fit", "suitable", or "proper" for you. The sodomites receive in themselves that recompence of their error which is meet. They do not desire to retain God in their knowledge so God gives them over to a reprobate mind. This is the judgment that is meet for them.
Proverbs 5:22 ¶ His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
Jeremiah 2:19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
The woman was created as an help meet for man.
Genesis 2:18 ¶ And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
This is natural, one man and one woman. There is no shame or attempt to justify the natural way of things because it is not against God. Sodomy is against God and must be justified in the eyes of man to be seen as right. This corrupts and sears the conscience of man.
However, thanks be to God, God can save you after whatever sin you have committed against him. By the righteousness of Jesus Christ you can be saved by believing the gospel and calling upon the name of the Lord.
Romans 10:9-10, 13
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The Lord Jesus can renew your mind even after being a sodomite. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. He will make you meet to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light. He will make you meet for eternal life.
Romans 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Colossians 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
2 Timothy 2:20-21
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
