What Does "Prevent" Mean in the KJB?

1 John 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

The words of God are greater than the words of men. "Prevent" is another word that has changed meaning in modern English. I did not even know the King James Bible meaning until I studied this word out for myself.

Remember to "study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed"....(2 Timothy 2:15a)

There are people who say that the King James Bible English is too hard to understand, and that the modern versions are easier to read. Compare scripture with scripture and you can find the meaning of words. The King James Bible has a built-in dictionary if you actually read it.
