Ruth 2:12 The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

What does it mean to recompense someone? Or what does it mean to receive a recompense?

The King James Bible defines itself. If you read carefully Ruth 2:12 above you will see the King James Bible dictionary. To recompense is to give a reward for something done. It can be a good or evil reward depending on what you or someone else did.

Vengeance and recompense belongeth unto the Lord Jesus.

Deuteronomy 32:35 To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

Christians have a commandment from Paul to not recompense evil for evil.

Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
