Young Man, Be Diligent
Young man, are you diligent in the work of the Lord?
Are you staying on the narrow way by diligently seeking and keeping truth in the holy scriptures?
We have been commanded to do so by the Lord. If you love the Lord you will keep his commandments.
- Psalms 119:4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
The way many young men fall back into sin is because they fail to hide the word of God in their heart. To keep it written in their thoughts all day long. They fall because they do not obey the Lord. If you read 1 Peter 5:8-9 you will know that the devil walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. So are you seeking the word of God as much as the devil is seeking to devour you? Can you say, It is written, when the devil comes and tempts you?
- Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ that he has freed us from sin because he died for our sins according to the scriptures, and he was buried, and he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. The gospel of salvation is what saves you, but you must continue in the word of God to be presented holy and unblameable in the sight of God.
1 Corinthians 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
[John 8:31-32]
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
[Colossians 1:21-23]
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
