Jesus Praying: The Trinity Is False
The wisdom of man is foolishness to God (1 Corinthians 3:19 KJV). That is exactly what it is as unfaithful men say, "when Jesus prays to God it shows he is another person" trying to teach the Trinity. Or to say Jesus is not God at all under the same logic. Regardless of what man thinks, the word of God stands for itself pure and true. And Jesus is God manifest in the flesh, the fulness of the Godhead bodily is in Christ Jesus. Besides him there is no other God.
(Isaiah 44:6 compared to Revelation 1:17-18... The first and the last is the Lord the King of Israel and his redeemer also without a separation. If the first and the last is the father according to Isaiah 44:6, and his redeemer is a separate person... then when did the father ever die as it is written in Revelation 1:17-18. Then also there is the plainness of Colossians 2:8 KJV the fullness of God is in Christ Jesus the Lord. "These three ARE one", as it is written in 1 John 5:7, it is not three IN one.)
So the answer to why or how is Jesus praying to God, if he is God, is simple. He had to to fulfill prophecy according to scripture. And besides fulfilling the word of God who was Jesus to pray to if God is the only Lord to pray to according to the word of God? Jesus is giving us a perfect example in all things even prayer. As it is in the law of the Old Testament men were to swear by no other name then the LORD thy God.
Deuteronomy 6:13 KJV
Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
And Jesus said himself that he is not come to destroy the law and the prophets, but to fulfill them.
Matthew 5:17 KJV
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
So when Jesus is praying on the cross it fulfilled prophecy.
Matthew 27:46 KJV
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
... a fulfillment of ...
Psalms 22:1 KJV
To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
.. Jesus died only after all things were fulfilled ..
John 19:28 KJV
After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
And when Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane it was his hour of pleading. Who else is God in the flesh to pray to when in need other than to God?
Matthew 26:39 & 41-42 KJV
(39) And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
(41) Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
(42) He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
The will of God had to be accomplished. And God in the flesh, (Emanual Matthew 1:23 KJV, God with us, another prophecy from Isaiah 7:14 KJV which was fulfilled); suffered in the flesh the same things every man does yet was without sin according to scripture. He knows the stress and fear of facing judgement especially when being punished unjustly for another's sins. I mean he was pleading saying the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. So yes there was distress in the Lord before going to the cross to die.
In this is prophecy fulfilled also...
Isaiah 53:3-4 KJV
(3) He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
(4) Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
(11) He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
And this was to have a better and more perfect way then what was through the law. As even Christ Jesus the Lord became our high priest! Such an high priest that was tempted in all points like as we, yet without sin!
Hebrews 4:14-15 KJV
(14) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
(15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
And so as Jesus was tempted, even admitting the flesh is weak in Matthew 26:41 as he prayed in the garden. He was without sin fulfilling the law and calling upon the name of the Lord in time of trouble. Being an example for us in how to pray. Turning to God, being God himself only excepted until a later time; (1 Corinthians 15:25-28 KJV [please refer to other study on Jesus Is Excepted]). Jesus Christ our Lord brought every thought into captivity to have victory when his obedience was fulfilled as it is written in 2 Corinthians 10:5-6 KJV for us to do. So as he was tempted he prayed.
Psalms 46:1 KJV
To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalms 28:1 KJV
A Psalm of David.
Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
The simple thing to why Jesus is praying unto God if he is God is... who else would he pray to? There is no other God besides him! And prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus prayed. There are more examples I am sure you can find by studying the word of God more on this. such as connecting Psalm 5:10 to Matthew 27:1 with understanding Psalm 5 is another prayer of David like Psalm 22. I do not want to take away from the simplicity of the answer though. So if you understand Jesus is God Almighty manifest in the flesh, the scriptural answer for why he prayed to God is he did so to fulfill scripture.
